Cavendish to compete in final race at Tour de France Criterium

LONDON: British cyclist Mark Cavendish is set to compete in his final professional race at the two-day Tour de France Criterium, held in Singapore from November 9-10, 2024.

The 39-year-old, affectionately known as the ‘Manx Missile,’ has achieved an extraordinary career, amassing 165 victories, including a record-equalling 35 stage wins at the Tour de France. Cavendish has not competed since reaching this milestone in July.

An Isle of Man native, Cavendish also secured a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and claimed three world titles in the Madison discipline. Initially planning to retire at the end of 2023, he postponed his retirement by a year after crashing at the 2023 Tour de France. His final race will be a fitting farewell to one of cycling’s all-time greats.
