Advani storms into quarterfinals

Doha: Defending champion and top seed Pankaj Advani of India, Myanmar’s Nay Thway  Oo, Singapore’s Peter Gilchrist, and England Mike Russell, all entered the quarterfinals of the IBSF World Billiards Championships 150 up at Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha on Friday.

While Advani stormed to the last eight, winning all four of his games in Group A, the other three did not have such an easy path, with all of them losing a match each.

Advani awaits the winner of the all-Indian tussle between  Dhvaj Haria and Dhruv Sitwala while another Indian Rupesh Shah will fight it out against Englishman Robert Hall, with the winner taking on Thway Oo in the last eight.

Gilchrist will take on the winner of the match between India’s Sidharth Parikh and Myanmar’s Aung Htay while Sourav Kothari and Brijesh Damani will battle for a chance to take on Russell.
