Qatar camel racing season set to start on June 27

DOHA: The Qatar Hejen Racing Committee (QHRC), which organises camel races in the country, has started the process of licensing camels in preparation for the new season that will begin on June 27.

Professional camel racing was established in 1972, and races are broadcast with live commentary on the national TV.

The licensing will start 5am in the morning until 8am provided the prescription of hybrids within the estate of each owner is to prevent mixing and gatherings, and the camel owners, QHRC said on Monday.
