Qatar’s Younousse, Tijan enter Katara Cup quarterfinals

Doha, Qatar: Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan entered the quarterfinals of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Doha 4-Star Katara Cup after beating Russian pair Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy on Thursday.

Younousse and Tijan, who lost the first game, came back strongly to win 12-21, 21-18, 15-8.

Younousse and Tijan will take on Poland’s Michal Bryl and Grzegorz Fijalek in the last eight on Friday.

Earlier, the Qatari’s defeated Brazilians Alison Cerutti and Andre Loyola Stein in the eliminator.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak reached the quarterfinals after defeating Canada’s Sam Schachter and Sam Pedlow 2-0 (23-21, 21-14). They will take on USA’s Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena for a place in the semifinals

Spain’s Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira are also in the quarterfinals after a straight-set victory (22-20, 21-14) over Austria’s Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst.
