Qatar’s Julio-Tijan pair enters Agadir final

Doha: Qatar’s Julio Cesar Do Nascimento Junior and Ahmed Tijan entered the final in the Agadir leg of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 2017 on Sunday.

The Qatari pair defeated Iran's Bahman Salemiinjehboroun and Rahman Raoufi 21-13, 17-21, 15-11 in the fiercely fought semifinal in the Moroccan city. Julio and Tijan were in fine form in the opening set, winning it 21-13, but the Iranians came back strongly to pocket the second. However, Julio and Tijan regained their composure in the third to win the match.

They will take on Youssef Krou and Quincy Aye in the final on Sunday evening. The French duo cruised past host nation's Zouheir El Graoui and Mohamed Abicha 21-12, 21-16. 

Earlier, the Qatari pair overcame Switzerland’s Mirco Gerson and Michiel Zandbergen for a 2-1 (21-10, 17-21, 15-11) win in the quarterfinal.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Jefferson Pereira and Cherif Younousse suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Mexico’s Mergen and Ontiveros in the quarterfinals of FIVB World Tour Olsztyn beach volleyball.
