Pereira, Younousse bow out of World Championships

Doha: Qatar's Jefferson Pereira and Cherif Younousse bowed out of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships after losing 24-26, 22-24 to Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst of Austria.

Pereira and Younousse, who had defeated the Austrians en route to their fifth-place finish in the last edition of the championship in the Netherlands, could not repeat that show against their opponents who enjoyed the full backing of home crowd.

Doppler and Horst advanced to the quarterfinals and will play Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak of Poland. 

The Qataris finished ninth.
