Last-eight showdowns await at Pearl Beach Volleyball Championship
DOHA: The quarter-finals of the Pearl Beach Volleyball Championship will take place on Saturday at The Pearl Island, with eight teams vying for places in the semi-finals.
The tournament, organised by the Qatar Volleyball Association, featured 12 teams divided into four groups during the preliminary stage.Group A winners Lekhwiya face Group B runners-up Al Rayyan, while Group C leaders Madinat Khalifa meet Group D runners-up Al Jassasiya.
In the other ties, Group B toppers Ministry of Interior take on Group A runners-up Seashore, and Group D winners Al Zubara clash with Group C runners-up Al Mirqab.The semi-finals are scheduled for Sunday, followed by a rest day. The third-place playoff will be held on Tuesday, with the final to follow.
Organisers have raised the prize fund to 200,000 Qatari riyals ($54,945) for the top three teams, with 100,000 riyals awarded to the winners, 50,000 to the runners-up and 30,000 for third place. An additional 600,000 riyals has been allocated for spectator prizes to enhance fan engagement.
