Thanks everyone for the success, says Mutaz

Doha: Newly-crowned world champion Mutaz Barshim thanked everyone for the support after winning the high jump gold at the IAAF World Championships in London on Sunday.
“Thanks to Allah and HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Qatar Olympic Committee President Sheikh Jawaan bin Hamad Al Thani for their support,” Barshim tweeted and added, “The achievement was the result of the help and attention given by the wise leadership and my family. I would strive and make constant efforts to raise the national flag at international competitions.”
Mutaz managed a best of 2.35m, with silver going to Russian Danil Lysenko, competing as a neutral as the Russian federation remains barred from international competition over widespread state-sponsored doping.
“I just want to say thank you from my heart to all my supporters,” added Mutaz.
Syria’s Majd Eddin Ghazal claimed bronze with a best of 2.29m.
