Bhubaneswar, India: Qatar's Yaser Salem won his second silver, in 3000M steeplechase, at the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, India, on Saturday. Yaser, who had earlier finished second in 5000M, clocked 8:46.16sec to secure Qatar's fourth silver in the meet. Hossein Keyhani won gold in 8:43.82sec while Saudi Arabia's Ali Ahmad won bronze in 8:52.64.

Qatar's Wuhan silver medalist Hashim Salah Abbas started brightly and set the early pace, but had to settle for fourth place.

With one day left in the championship, India remained on top of the medal tally with 7 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze. China are in the second spot with 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze while Iran are third with 4 gold and 1 bronze. Qatar, with four silver, are 13th, but with Femi Seun Ogunode expected to win gold in 200M, last edition's runners-up Qatar are hopeful of increasing their position in the medal tally.
