Duplantis soars to victory in Lausanne Diamond League with record-breaking performance

LAUSANNE, Switzerland:Two-time Olympic champion Armand Duplantis added another achievement to his illustrious career on Wednesday, winning the city pole vault competition at the Lausanne Diamond League meeting. The 24-year-old Swede set a meeting record by clearing 6.15 metres at Place de la Navigation, just two weeks after securing his second consecutive Olympic title with a stunning world-record jump of 6.25 metres in Paris.

Duplantis needed only four jumps to claim victory, clearing 6.0 metres before setting the bar at a meeting-record 6.15 metres. He succeeded on his third attempt, continuing his streak of remarkable performances.

“It’s always nerve-wracking when you have a big performance like I did at the Olympics,” Duplantis shared with reporters. “I stepped out on the track today and I really loved it.”

Olympic silver medallist Sam Kendricks of the U.S. finished second with a clearance of 5.92 metres. Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen, Australia’s Kurtis Marschall, and the Philippines’ E.J. Obiena tied for third, each clearing 5.82 metres.
