Duplantis shatters pole vault world record for the 10th time with 6.26m jump

WARSAW: Sweden’s pole vault sensation, Mondo Duplantis, has done it again, breaking his own world record with an incredible leap of 6.26 meters at the Silesia Diamond League meeting on Sunday. This marks the 10th time the 24-year-old has set a new benchmark in the sport, surpassing the 6.25 meters he cleared earlier this month after securing his second consecutive Olympic gold medal in Paris.

At the Silesia Stadium in Chorzow, Poland, Duplantis had already clinched victory by clearing 6.00 meters. However, he wasn’t finished. The bar was raised to a world-record height of 6.26 meters, and on his second attempt, Duplantis soared over it, leaving the crowd in awe.

Just weeks earlier, Duplantis had electrified the Stade de France at the Paris Olympics, where he broke the world record for the ninth time, clearing 6.25 meters. His performance in Silesia further cements his status as the greatest pole vaulter of all time.

Reflecting on his achievement, Duplantis said, “This year I focused on the Olympics, the record just came naturally because I was in good shape. So I am not surprised with the record today but I am thankful.”

Earlier in the week, Duplantis also won in Lausanne, clearing 6.15 meters. However, it was in Chorzow where he truly captivated the audience, with the Polish crowd watching in anticipation as he made history once again.
