Barshim signs off Olympics with bronze in men’s high jump at Paris 2024

PARIS: Qatar’s Mutaz Barshim capped off his illustrious Olympic career with a bronze medal in the Men’s High Jump at the Paris 2024 Games. Barshim successfully cleared a height of 2.34 meters, marking his best performance of the season and securing third place on the podium. The gold medal was claimed by New Zealand’s Hamish Kerr, who achieved a height of 2.36 meters, while American Shelby McEwen took silver with the same height, delivering the best performance of his career.

This achievement makes Barshim the first high jumper in history to win medals in four consecutive Olympic Games. His remarkable journey includes a gold medal from Tokyo 2020, silver medals from Rio de Janeiro 2016 and London 2012, and now, a bronze from Paris 2024.

Barshim’s bronze is Qatar’s first medal at these Olympic Games, further solidifying his status as the most decorated Qatari athlete in Olympic history with a total of four Olympic medals.(QNA)
