Cheburkin stars as Russia triumph in 3×3 basketball

Doha, Qatar: Dmitrii Cheburkin was the star with 12 points as Russia defeated Brazil 21-19 in a classic to win gold in the men's 3×3 basketball at ANOC World Beach Games on Wednesday.

Mongolia won the bronze medal after beating Ukraine 20-16.

In women’s competition, France defeated Netherlands 15-9 to win gold.

France captain Johanna Morgane Muzet said: “Despite playing all four of us for the first time together, we learned how to adjust in one another’s style of play and it totally worth it. We had a meeting before the final and we knew that hustle and execution would be the keys to success.”

China, who had lost to Netherlands 16-15 in the semifinal, beat Brazil 17-13 to claim bronze.
