We need to recover quickly, Klopp says of final against Flamengo
DOHA: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to prepare well for the FIFA Club World Cup final where his side will face Brazil’s Flamengo at the Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday.
Klopp is aware that the Brazilian side would be a tough nut to crack given their come-back 3-1 win over Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal in the first semifinal on Tuesday.
The German would like to end the year on a high after guiding the Reds to European crown in June this year.
“It will be more difficult for sure, just because it's the next game and we have now to collect our bones,” Klopp told the media. “Flamengo’s season is over. They’re here with the full squad pretty much as well. We have just to recover quickly and make ourselves ready.”
Though the Reds started a bit slow before scoring their first goal in the 12th minute, Klopp will be happy with his side’s fighting mentality.
But he said that Flamengo coach Jorge Jesus will have a great ‘European influence’ on the Latin American side.
“We saw Flamengo in the other semifinal. It was an open game for a long period,” added Klopp.
“With Jorge Jesus as a manager, of course there’s a European influence and that's it. But the player themselves already have quality. If there would not be a European coach, it would already be difficult.”
In short, the final is expected to be a mouth-watering clash featuring some of the world football’s top stars from Latin America, Europe and Africa.
“With Jorge Jesus, very, very experienced, very successful in Portgual and now in Brazil as well, we have a lot of respect for that but at the end we will try our best and we will see how it will work out.
“I don’t know who exactly will be ready for the next game, so we will see. I saw the bench of Monterrey, there were like 10, 15 players on it, I don't know, I'm not sure. We will see who deals better with the circumstances, who has more right decisions,” said Klopp.
