Tunisia’s ES Tunis arrive in Doha

Doha: Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive de Tunis (ES Tunis) landed in Doha late on Tuesday ahead of their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup. ES Tunis secured their qualification for the tournament by winning the CAF Champions League earlier this year.

ES Tunis will enter the tournament at the second-round stage. They will play Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, winners of the AFC Champions League, at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on December 14. Whoever prevails will book a semi-final tie with Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo at Khalifa International Stadium on December 17.

ES Tunis will be looking to forward Anice Badri for inspiration. The Tunisian international was nominated for CAF’s Interclubs Player of the Year, which celebrates the best players competing in Africa. In charge of the team is coach Moïn Chaâbani, who played for the club for nearly a decade.

Chaâbani said: “We are excited to be back at the FIFA Club World Cup and are committed to making our country and continent proud. We are grateful for the support we have received from visiting fans and those living in Doha. We are looking forward to making the most of our time here.”
