Liverpool land in Doha, seeking first ever FIFA Club World Cup
DOHA: Liverpool FC landed in Doha this morning ahead of their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019.
The Reds, who secured qualification by winning the UEFA Champions League, will face Monterrey on Wednesday 18 December, 20:30, at Khalifa International Stadium.
The FIFA Club World Cup is one of the few trophies not in the Anfield cabinet and the team will be well supported in their efforts to change this. A large contingent of Liverpool fans have travelled to Doha and the club enjoys a significant fanbase amongst local Qataris and expatriates.
“This competition gives the squad the opportunity to achieve something new, the chance to win Liverpool’s first ever Club World Cup. It’s been a busy but incredible year and of course we will give everything to wrap-up 2019 with this title. We followed the matches yesterday and are looking forward to playing Monterrey on Wednesday with the support of all the Liverpool fans that are travelling to Doha or living in Qatar,” said Liverpool FC Manager Jürgen Klopp.
Should Liverpool win, they will play either CONMEBOL Libertadores winners CR Flamengo or Al Hilal FC in the final.
